The 3-Year Itch
We recently celebrated our three-year “home-aversary,” and while that was an amazing accomplishment, we came to the realization that just about every room in our home is no longer working for us the way that it used to.
I’d like to think that this is a perfectly normal experience. We moved in during a pandemic, our family has grown in size, we’ve adjusted our working schedules, and our tastes have also changed. So with that, we set about to list the projects we want to tackle for the rest of the year. Beware…the list is…ambitious!
CLOSETS
Despite having organized closets, courtesy of the container store, we still ended up with a ton of clothes, papers and miscellaneous items around the house. This can only mean one thing, our storage solutions need help!
KITCHEN
Our island, similar to our bathroom, was created to be ADA compliant, which means we’ve been working with a shallow sink and mini dishwasher since we moved in! Unfortunately, our family of 4 has pushed that to its limit and it’s time to upgrade!
LAUNDRY ROOM
Whew! Doing laundry for a family of 4 is a constant struggle and our laundry closet is barely keeping up with the task. We need a solution and fast!
WORKSPACE
Working from home…together meant a shared office was ideal but not always functional. It often came down to a battle of the zoom calls. Launching our design and content creation business will require new ways of using and sharing the space. I can’t wait to see where we land!
GARAGE
I typically scurry from the car to the house because the garage is a bit overwhelming. It’s absolutely in need of a good purge, new storage solutions and a complete redesign. However, I know once it’s complete, it’s going to be a game changer!
While there are more things we want to tackle, we know that everything doesn’t need to happen at once! I’m excited about documenting how we take on each design challenge and improve the spaces for our family! How long does it take you to want to refresh your space?
